The Climate Debt Justice (CDJ) project aims to support the development of a national agenda that will allow Pakistan to restructure its external debt, creating fiscal space to unlock climate financing.
The project focuses on aligning debt restructuring with climate action priorities, particularly in climate adaptation, ensuring that debt relief contributes directly to environmental sustainability. It secures Government of Pakistan buy-in, co-develops action plans, and ensures sustainability through policy continuity and implementation frameworks.
Tabadlab’s work under CDJ includes A Raging Fire, a comprehensive analysis of Pakistan’s debt crisis, and The First Drop, an extensive review of Debt for Climate Swaps.
